Leonardo DiCaprio supports Sharks and asks for help in Hawaii

In Hawaii the Senate House Bill 553 is due to be voted on and “establishes the crime of intentional and conscious capture, entanglement or death of a shark in state marine waters and provides for penalties and fines.” These fines can vary from US $ 500 to US $ 10,000 for an infraction committed.

Hollywood artist Leonardo DiCaprio has taken a beautiful proactive attitude in defense of sharks and supports the proposal, which will basically create a Shark Sanctuary in Hawaii, just at a time when the populations of these animals are in global decline and are essential for the health of the sharks and oceans.

“Members in 2010, the legislature, banned fins and shark products, but we failed to protect entire sharks from intentional death. So this bill would correct that omission to better protect these apex predators,” said Senator Mike Gabbard , chairman of the Agriculture and Environment Commission.
